One of the great joys of our Craft is meeting and entertaining Visiting Brothers. They come from all over the world. Their visits are usually delightfully unannounced. And wherever there is a Lodge, they have a home. Custer City Lodge has recently has received three such sojourning Masons:
Worshipful Brother Larry Van Ray was in the area for turkey hunting. The wind was blowing too hard so he joined us at the annual Knights of Columbus/Masons Chili Supper. He enjoyed the company and chili so much that he sat in Lodge with us at the April Stated Communication. WBro. Larry is a member of Coteau Lodge #54 in Webster, SD and resides in Solvotna, Alaska. He has vowed to visit again (and get that turkey)! He may be contacted at; lvanray@acsalaska.net.
Joining his college buddy, WBro. Van Ray, on the turkey hunt was Worshipful Brother Marshall Warnick. He also partook of the company and food of the chili supper. WBro. Marshall recently received his 50-year pin. He is a member of Huron Lodge #26 in Huron, SD. Originally from Leola, SD, WBro. Marshall now resides in Arvada, Colorado.
Worshipful Brother A. I. Simon also asked to sit in Lodge with us. Unfortunately, his short time in the Custer area was not during any of our Communications. But he and his lovely lady were able to briefly meet with Most Worshipful Brother Ken Glaser at our Temple. MWBro. Ken gave them the grand tour of the Temple and had a wonderful conversation with WBro. and Mrs. Simon. The Simons greatly enjoy their brief Masonic contact so far from home. WBro. Simon is a member of Junction City Lodge #548 in Junction City, TX. He resides in Roosevelt, TX where he receives mail at PO Box #69.
And most recently visiting was Bro. Richard Regenburgh of Clear Lake Lodge #1417 located in Harris County, TX. Bro. Richard conveyed his Lodge’s fraternal greetings. He is working this summer at the local KOA and was pleased to join the Brethren for supper and sit in Lodge. Custer City Lodge #66 relishes these contacts by our Visiting Brothers and sends its fraternal greetings to their Lodges. May our Brothers continue to follow the path to their Masonic home in Custer!
